| | | Re: Unknown plant Given the information from PeteThe Bloke should it be removed? We've had lots of debates about invasive species and in most cases I believe that we agree that prevention is better than cure (mainly because there is no cure to rampant invasion). |

| | | Re: Unknown plant I think it was planted there on purpose. I don't think they are rampant either as mine has never spread.
But if its in the wrong place then it should be removed. |

| | | Re: Unknown plant I have been back today, and i think your correct in saying its been planted there purposefully, i had a proper look around and found several discarded plant-pots, and several other Gunnera plants, and most of them are starting to die off, i dont think its quite wet enough for them ... |

| | | Re: Unknown plant There is mention of it being rampant in Wales. While it may not get out of hand in all localities I feel it would be better if it were removed because if it did thrive and multiply we could have regrets. It may never have the impact of, say, Himalayan Balsam or Japanese Knotweed, but do we want to take the risk? |

| | | Re: Unknown plant Please don't miss the edit I made to my previous post. Apparently we
don't want its cousin in Ireland, but this species may be harmless
enough.
Having said that, I think that rscott74 makes a good point about being
safe rather than sorry.

| | | Re: Unknown plant This is going to sound odd coming from me , the self penned nature nazi, but i dont think gunera is overly invasive...i know several massive plants on parklands, estates, castle grounds that i have known of for years and none seem to have spread from the original spot...
But...as i like all things to be native and i find foreign plants growing obviously in the wrong place/country very uncomfortable to see i would also get rid of them.....
