| | | Pink Hawthorn Blossom I don't usually take a great interest in trees but I enjoy the Hawrhorn in blossom which seems to be abundant this year. I have, however. noticed a single plant which produces pink blossom. Is this unusual as, of the 1000's roundabout, this is the only one that has pink flowers. |

| | | Re: Pink Hawthorn Blossom They do occasionally have pink flowers + there are some selected forms in cultivation such as Paul's Scarlet which has much deeper coloured flowers. |

| | | Re: Pink Hawthorn Blossom If you look closely at the individual flowers of most hawthrns, you can detect a hint of pink which isn't noticed in the mass bloom. Some are pinker than others! The all-pink ones have been selected by growers to produce decorative trees - commonly set as standards. |

However it's not impossible that a native pink-flowered shrub could be C. monogyna. |

| | | Re: Pink Hawthorn Blossom I saw this one a couple of weeks back in a farm hedgerow in Derbyshire which looked fairly 'natural'. Makes a change! |

| | | Re: Pink Hawthorn Blossom We had a Hawthorn tree come down at the weekend on the park
The ground has been so wet for so long it was rotten at ground level and this is marsh land anyway, it was also top heavy laden with fruit already.
I checked for nests, luckily there wasn't any. A largish Ash also came down nearby. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
