| | | Welsh Poppy?
Just checking - I think this is a Welsh Poppy.
I found it yesterday, growing on chalk downland in Buckinghamshire. No doubt a garden escapee.
Thanks,
Pete |

It's not obvious from the photo, but the petals were Poppy size, I think Greater Celandine is much smaller. I don't think the leaves are right for Greater Celandine either. Then again, I'm frequently wrong! |

Thanks,
Pete | You're correct Pete- it is indeed Welsh Poppy, Meconopsis cambrica- a scarce native, but fairly common garden escape. Lovely plant which I have seeding about in my garden. By far the easiest Meconopsis to grow, especially in the south-east. |

| | | Re: Welsh Poppy? Thanks very much, aeshna5. I had looked it up in my books, and so thought it was probably a garden escapee. As you say it is a lovely plant, it looked quite striking beside the footpath. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
