| | | Flower ID help please (1 yellow 2white) I hope you might assist with IDs of the flowers below thanks.
No. 1 was taken in the margin of a rape field at Seaham
Nos 2 and 3 show a flower I noticed in a banked hedge near one of the lakes in Hetton Lyons Country Park. There was only a small group and I don't recall seeing the plant elsewhere in the locality.
No 4 shows a plant I found today in Hetton House Woods, a wet mature area of trees near Hetton Bogs SSSI. At first glance I thought the leaves belonged to a buttercup but they are, on inspection somewhat different, they emerge from the base of the plant. The flower heads are < 1 cm across.
Thanks in anticipation of replies.

| | | Re: Flower ID help please (1 yellow 2white) Thanks JennyS. I feel like an idiot re Lady's Smock - they're everywhere in our local park but seem to have a pinkish hue which didn't seem evident on the flowers near the lake, also I didn't see any others around. |

| No need to - I screeched to a halt when driving the other day when I saw a patch of deep mauve-pink flowers on some very dry waste ground ...... thought I'd found something I hadn't seen before ..... they were Ladies Smock too! |

| | | Re: Flower ID help please (1 yellow 2white) Thanks Bub-les and Aeshna5. I'm pleased it was Charlock. A few days ago I posted a thread 'Is it Charlock?' and it wasn't, it was a lighter yellow rape. I'll hope not to make that mistake again. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
