Edible Rhubarb??

Hi can anybody identify this type of rhubarb, and is it edible??







Its very common round here and grows just about everywere.

Its not a rhubarb
I'm pretty sure its a burdock

i dont think they are - they grow every year and never flower.

Plus some of those leaves are already 40 - 45cm in length and still growing.

Also the stems of the leaves increasingly turn red - which is already visable in one of the photo's.

That doesn't 'feel' like rhubarb to me. The leaves are not shiny or wide enough.

It looks like Lesser Burdock to me

It is also called Wild Rhubarb

Burdock, probably lesser, which is known as Poor Man's Rhubarb.

The Burdock does seem to be extra large this year I keep thinking it can't get any bigger

So can you eat it?

I suspect you can - is it the burdock from Dandilion & Burdock?

I think both of these plants are supposed to be diuretics?????
