You'll probably find you need to edit most of your pictures a bit, for contrast and sharpening. Have you got imaging software? |

rob | No you don't BradsDad
You can "post-process" them in imaging software to crop (if needed)
and then save in a lesser detailed .pg to reduce the size.
But "Save as", don't overwrite your msterpiece.
You never know till after a session which photos are going to be
corkers, or which organisms you are going to need help IDinig.
Personally, when I want to upload, I use "Easy Thumbnails", freeware
that you can download as it is so easy to define sizes and .jpg
quality and it automatically renames the files for you!
It'll also work on whole directories for web-uploading etc.. |

| | | Re: Trying out new camera Another freebie is PIXresizer which was recommended to me when I first started uploading photos. Its so easy to use. Means you can always take your photos at maximum resolution so then when you want to print one out you've got it big enough to get a good print, or crop in to get what you want.
There's plenty of folk on here who will only be too glad to help with advice on how to get the best out of your camera and your photos.
Please keep the photos coming and have fun.

| | | Re: Trying out new camera I agree, take at your best quality and then resize them for uploading. You'd kick yourself if you got "the best picture ever" and it was of low quality.
Irfanview is a freebie, so is Photofiltre. Some people like Picasa. |

| | | Re: Trying out new camera This topic has come up before on the Photography forum. A lot of people there have recommended Irfanview or Picasa, as mentioned above by Elean0r, for resizing photos and to do other processing on them. Both are free.
I happen to use Picasa, but only to 'crop' and occasionally sharpen photos. I've very rarely used the other features. |

Picasa has a "straighten" function that is great. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
