Meadow Foxtail it is. Can anyone tell me what they think Sweet Vernal Grass tastes like to them. The books say it's supposed to be vanilla, but to me it's like a herb/spice used in Indian cooking but I can't recall which one.

Adam | Just seen this so I'm just having a chobble on some now Adam! It does have a vanillary come mild coconut flavour to it, used a lot as you know in Curry dishes. It's the first time i have tried it, it's very pleasant!

Adam | I think professional botanits lack imagination - everything sweet smelling is supposed to smell of vanilla, according to the books! Sweet Vernal Grass smells, and tastes, of coumarin - which is also found in Lady's Bedstraw, I believe. Coumarin has it's own distinct taste and smell - it's just confusing to compare it with something else.

Sweet vernal grass smells like Sweet vernal grass. If the smell was better known it could be used as a description.
