| | | Some more for ID/confirmation, please I've no idea what the flower in these first two photos is (it's obviously not yet fully flowered):
I'm fairly sure this Cuckooflower (the petals were more lilac than the photo shows):
And this is obviously some sort of Speedwell - I would guess Common Field, but it seemed too dark a blue: |

| | | Re: Some more for ID/confirmation, please At first I thought the first one was some kind of Globe Flower but the leaves are wrong - I wonder then whether it might be Hairy Buttercup? |

Cheers,
Adam | Pretty sure it is Goldilocks which is often considered ( in a suite with other species) as an ancient woodland indicator species. The flowers are often ragged looking with petals missing.
Agree with other 2 IDs as well! |

| | | Re: Some more for ID/confirmation, please The possible Goldilocks Buttercup was in a hedgerow (with Lesser Celandine, Greater Stitchwort, Bluebells and Yellow Archangel) along an old lane. It was on the edge of the Chilterns, so presumably on chalky soil. Don't know if that helps or not.
Thanks for all the replies. I should have known it was Germander Speedwell (I saw and recognised some elsewhere on the same walk!).
The Cuckooflower was a first for me. It was in Ashridge on the Herts/Bucks borders - I know Tiggrx is interested in wildflowers in Bucks, so I checked my maps when I got home to see which side of the county boundary I was on when I saw them. They were unfortunately all in Herts rather than Bucks, but only just - the last one I saw was only the width of a bridleway from being in Bucks! |

3 Not sure but would go with Adams Germander Speedwell ID | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
