| | | Who uses Roundup? I'm interested to know how many gardeners etc use Monsanto Roundup. I've just read a shocking article in Vanity Fair that says; ''Monsanto has produced some of the most toxic substances ever created, residues from which have left us with some of the most polluted sites on earth'' Monsanto's Harvest of Fear: Politics & Power: vanityfair.com
I also found this disturbing documentary here which it says will never be shown in America This Company May Be the Biggest Threat to Your Future Health - Articles
Is there any reason to suspect that Roundup may not be as safe as we've been led to believe? |

| | | Re: Who uses Roundup? Not that i've come accross and I used to use it all the time - these days i use timbrel (triclopur) instead as some research has indicated that roundup (glyphosate) can transfer from tree to tree by root graft - which isnt desirable if you are trying to kill out sycamore - rhodo etc from a coppice woodland.
also neither of those links is about roundup - they are talking about monsatos GM crop etc experimentation.

....Farmers who buy Monsanto’s patented Roundup Ready seeds are required to sign an agreement promising not to save the seed produced after each harvest for re-planting, or to sell the seed to other farmers. This means that farmers must buy new seed every year. Those increased sales, coupled with ballooning sales of its Roundup weed killer, have been a bonanza for Monsanto. | like i said about GM produce - not roundup (roundup ready seed being that which is Genetically Modified to be roundup proof so that the fields can be sprayed for weeds without damage to the crop)
there is no indication in either of new discoverys regarding the health issues relating to round up - both are about monsanto putting the squeeze on farmers by not allowing them to save seed for replanting and claiming they are in violation of patent if they do.
It seems that it is you who hasnt read the report properly

| | | Re: Who uses Roundup? i'd pretty much dispute anything dr mercola says on principle - hes well known for contreversial and imo ill researched views - who we have seen before on here with regard to the dangers posed by cellphone masts, and sundry other things - he certainly isnt a well regarded medical authority.
now i'm not saying that roundup is great - or that having it sprayed all over your food is a good thing (weedkiller proof crops would be a disaster for wildlife amonst other things) but as far as i am aware there is no new research on the health issues attaching to glyphosate which are recognised by propper medical researchers.
when articles start appearing in new scientist or the lancet etc i'd be open to persausion but not from one way out talking head

| | | Re: Who uses Roundup? "Wildabout wildlife" and using pesticides?
Roundup is polluting our freshwatersupply in Denmark, and its NOT being broken down in the soil, into harmless substances as Monsanto/Bayer claims.
So dont use the stuff please if you really is wild about wildlife... |

| | | Re: Who uses Roundup? Nothing noxious here, I tried slug pellets but could not hit them, so now they drink beer or eat yeast spread then I sneak up and strangle them.
Weeds, dig up or pull up, even been known to set the chickens on them.
