| | | Bluebell explosion This week the Chiltern Bluebells have exploded. About a week later than last year's early explosion in that hot, dry, sunny April of 2007...
They are not quite as spectacular as last year, but an incredible sight (and very BRITISH!) anyway.
As we photographed these on the Bucks/Oxon border yesterday, an Australian woman came over to us (she's over in Blighty for a month) and was waxing lyrical about our wonderful colourful Bluebells - they don't get anything like this in Australia I guess...
We think they are darker and more purple than last year (which WERE almost "blue" for once).
This, I think, is the best photo I took yesterday.
TBR.

| | | Re: Bluebell explosion I love the photo, it's beautiful. I spent many a day as a child in Bluebell woods, wonderful memories.

| | | Re: Bluebell explosion Thanks for the comments.
They're wonderful things aren't they. We feel so lucky to see them, and have been visiting our favourite Bluebell woods for 2 weeks now, impatiently!
And they're better than anything in Australia remember!

| | | Re: Bluebell explosion Hi TBR,
You're right about the Chiltern bluebells showing nicely now, they're looking good around here in the Beds/Herts part of the Chilterns. They were forming nice blue carpets in several woods and along hedgerows that I passed while out walking on Friday and Saturday. Weather permitting, I hope to visit Ashridge (Herts/Bucks border) this week, where they should be really impressive. |

| | | Re: Bluebell explosion That's a lovely photo TBR. Yes, they have been trying to come out for several weeks but this weekend they have almost reached their peak.
I have been out photographing bluebells today. I will post mine in another thread.
