Thanks - I've never noticed it in London (but I seldom cross the Thames ) - perhaps the south is moving north (). I did see figs at bud-burst with fruit developing yesterday so perhaps the odd Amelanchier seed is not that surprising?

Thanks - indeed, a pretty tree/shrub - rather more delicate than cherries flowering at this time, with the red leaves for interest, but like the cherries - very short flowering season and looks vert tatty after the first few days of blooming! Still, not to complain .......

This doesn't look like a hybrid - a cluster of very similar looking shrubs over a small area ....

Can be raised from seed or from root suckers. Seedlings are hardy.

Hadfield says that there is a hybrid A. canadensis X A. laevis X A.grandifolia.
