| | | Re: Orchid Books In my personal opinion it would be 'Britains Orchids' by David Lang. Here's a link for you to look at: About the author; David Lang: Britain's Orchids

| | | Re: Orchid Books There is a new book out on UK orchids, but as the pics are rather poor plus quite a few printed upside down I cant recommend it. Pity the publishers didnt know what they were printing! |

Excellent guide | By far and away the best (and most up to date) guide available: I strongly recommend it. |

| | | Re: Orchid Books Michael Foley's book uses new names for orchids which resulted from genetic work by Prof Bateman et al. So Coelolossum viride (Frog Orchid) is Dactylorhiza viridis for instance.
The strange thing about these changed names for UK orchids (and there are loads of them) is that the changes haven't made their way into the lists of British plants at BSBI or in the latest supplement to Kent's list.
So I'm not at all clear how anyone can say whether a book on UK orchids is up-to-date. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
