| | | Is this Lords and Ladies? I took this photo on saturday on the edge of a hedge row I have tried to research ans wonder is it Lords and Ladies, most the photos I have seen show the red berries on Lords & Ladies - Arum maculatum and different colour if a flower is shown?

| | | Re: Is this Lords and Ladies? Yes it is .. the pics with berries are the same plant only later in the year. Arums are strange plants the flowers are actually right at the bottom of the plant inside the hood. Insects are enticed inside, by scent rather unpleasant i might say, they are trapped inside the flask/hood where they can polllunate the stigmas as they try to escape.

| | | Re: Is this Lords and Ladies? Thankyou Deer Stalker, Jez and Wildman for your confirmation. I find it interesting now looking at nature in a different way since I joined this site and taking photos and researching what I have seen. It is so good to be able to ask a question and get swift replies and learn so much
Thanx again

Apparently it's unusual for a plant tissue to be able to generate it's own heat.
