| |  Pink Umbellifer for ID
I found this at the side of a disused canal (for over a century) near Newent in the north of Gloucestershire. I'm really not sure on the ID, I have an inkling but I'd like to know what you think. The pictures were taken on 2nd April 2008.    |

I would say Hogweed - Heracleum sphondylium.

I agree on it being Hogweed but on checking the book and looking at the leaves it looks more like the Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) being Sunday thought I would throw a spanner in the works

The leaves are too small and stubby for Giant which has more elongated and toothed leaves.
