Has anyone got colts-foot out yet? I haven't seen it before and don't want to miss it this year. |

Funny you ask , found some this morning while out dog walking along side a ditch , there was plenty around looking very bright in the sunshine..

Saw it flowering on roadside verges three-four weeks ago in the Midlands. Wouldn't like to say what soil that was but I see it most commonly on industrial and other disturbed sites up here. It grows on ordinary loam - nothing special needed!  |

I've posted this photo before on another thread - it's my first Coltsfoot of the year, seen here in Kensworth on 13th March. I saw some more on Tuesday at College Lake, Bucks. |

I saw some on 14th March on a sand dune, it can't be too fussy where it grows! |

Not unusual to find it in late February. Looking at my records, I photographed the flowers on February 20th 1989. |

Its been out in Lancashire since late January! Ok it was straggly then and its all looking a lot better now and a lot more of it!
It does seem to like waste ground and slightly rubbishy places, untidy unmown grassy verges and bankings and certainly loads of it on any land which has had buildings removed and then left waste.......
