Despite the very cold weather there is a large patch of Cuckoo flowers (Cardamine pratense) along the road verge near to Wakehurst Place in Sussex - now all they need are the Orange Tips!!
Roll on the warmer weather...

Look forward to the warmer weather! We have speedwells, violets and celendines all over the place at the moment but no cuckoo flowers yet.

The cuckoo flower has been out for over two weeks along some verges in Warnham. All we need is for it to warm up a bit but I don't think that is going to have for a week or so yet. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  |

No sign of cuckoo flower in my Meadow! I bought the seeds esp for the Orange tips

No sign of any in my 'baby' meadow either BUT today I did notice one Snake's Head Fritillary in flower and lots more in bud 
I will take a photo of it tomorrow, weather-permitting

Any tips on finding Orange when they are roosting during the summer? I hope to photograph them at close quarters, but the need to be very still. |

There is very occasionally a second brood in august, but in all my years studying wildlife I've never seen one of these second brood Orange Tips, so they are pretty unusual! | | | |
