From what I can find Bluebells are protected through general provisions in the Wildlife and Countryside act (1981) which make it illegal to intentionally uproot a wild plant. I'm not sure if this would count if the land-owner wishes to change the area as it would be deemed private property.
I'm sure others on here will be able to shed more light and hopefully you can help to stop them beying destroyed.

| | | Re: Bluebells landscaped as a part of anything in particular? Bluebells as far as I know are only specifically protected from sale (they can't dig them up to sell). Or they are offered protection if the landowner says they must not be uprooted.
However, they are a weak ancient woodland indicator and if ti is a patch of ancient woodland that may offer a level of protection.
If the landscaping is part of any kind of development or anything that may have required any level of planning permission there should be an ecological assessment you should be able to see. It may be that they will re-plant the bluebells.
Oh and welcome to the forum!! |
