| | | Re: Unidentified flower ... Yep, it looks like you're right with Common Toadflax - definitely a new one to me! Pretty little thing, isn't it?
Many thanks to Chris and Rob for the help on ID and hello again to naturelover! You say you used to pick these when you were a child? Are they on the decline, I wonder? |

| | | Re: Unidentified flower ... No seen that flower round here, but picking wild flowers brings back many memories of when I was at infant school, late fifties early sixties, we used to go on nature walks and pick flowers, or would take bunches of wild flowers into school along with a glass jam jar, (no health and safety rubbish then, we wern't traumatised by carrying a potentially dangerous substance (glass) into school) we would have competitions for the best display, of course that was when they were pleantifull and even with the ones we picked you could hardly see where we'd been, that's before everything was sprayed to death etc. |

| | | Re: Unidentified flower ... There's quite a lot along the former railway between Pittington and Murton although I can't say I've seen it much elsewhwere in the locality. I also recall it being in flower when most other flowers have gone. It adds a nice splash of colour. |

I've seen it in a few different places on my walks in the northern Home Counties - Hudnall (just about on the border of Beds, Bucks and Herts) is a good place to see it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
