| | | Unidentified Coastal Plant Another one from my coastal visit to Lancashire in August 2007. Quite bushy, upright plant - masses of yellow flowers on long stems, as you see from the close-up shot. Any ideas, people? |

Sorry that's the best I can do at the mo! | Hello again! Yes, I thought from the shape of the flowers it could possibly be a member of the pea family or similar. I just had another run through my little wild flower book and I can't seem to match it to anything ... again! |

| I know that one only too well! Illustrations and/or photos of the same plant in different books can sometimes look very different.....
Its a good idea to have several to compare between - there are several threads on here about good reference books......
Checking flower proportions is another id pointer between melilots - length of wings compared to keel etc.

| | | Re: Unidentified Coastal Plant I ought to take a ruler out photographing too .... but for this one you can get an indication from the written descriptions of the flower:
Tall Melilot: standard (top), wings (side) and keel (bottom) more or less equal.
Ribbed Melilot: Standard and wings more/less equal, keel shorter | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
