| | | Calypogeai? The photos below were taken where Calypogeai neesiana has been recorded, but having Googled for pictures to compare with I'm totally none the wiser as I haven't a clue on ferns, lichens, mosses etc...... |

| | | Re: Calypogeai? Hi Jimmer - I hadn't spotted the comment!
Thanks for the suggestion, about the only thing I know is that it is a liverwort, but they're a realm I've never ventured into before! |

The British Bryological Society is in the process of producing a photographic Field Guide and they have a web site that has photographs of most species British Bryological Society Fieldguide - Introduction
I must admit it does look like Calypogeia the leaves aren't round enough. There's a photo of Calypogeia in there if you want to check it out. It grows mainly on exposed peat - is that where you found your specimen?

| | | Re: Calypogeai? Thank you very much Rob
I followed the link and its now been identified as a moss - Hookeria lucens. After that quick flurry into the world of bryophytes I think I'll stick to trying to identify flowering plants for the immediate future! |

| | | Re: Calypogeai? Yes, I managed to track down a second-hand copy of that a while ago after it was recommended here.
Really good book, but I'll need a bit of help in the field before I try putting a name to most of the mosses and lichens! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
