Sorry about the focus of the flowers, particularly No. 3....the picture were taken with my mobile phone as I forgot my camera!
Cheers Jacob

1. Himalayan honeysuckle/Pheasant berry, leycesteria formosa
2. Pickerel Weed, Pontaderia cordata
3. Either Hairy Bittercress, Cardamine hirsuta - 4 stamens or
Wavy Bittercress, Cardamine flexuosa - 6 stamens
4. Nightshade, but not sure which - possibly Black Nightshade, Solanum nigrum |

| | | Re: ID Flowers Please 3. The habit of the plant suggests Wavy rather than Hairy Bitter-cress - but Jenny is right, you should really count the number of stamens to be sure.
5. I think probably Bittersweet (Solanum dulcamara) |

| | | Re: ID Flowers Please Paul as far as I know it is a natural area. Its a Local Nature Reserve so I guess they would have some control of introductions? But then again I might well be wrong!

I read on a link somewhere that Himalayan Honeysuckle is often spread by birds but I have seen this plant on 3 occasions each time in a different area of West Sussex

| | | Re: ID Flowers Please The Pickerel Weed is a native of America but is widely grown in gardens here in the UK and often planted into the wild.
A lot of people seem to like planting exotic species in nature reserves - maybe they think our native flora isn't good enough... |

Cheers Jacob | The Leycesteria is often spread by birds as they enjoy the fruits. The flowers are attractive to bees as well. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
