| | | It's the apple season! Well, here I am, twigs and leaves stuck in my hair, and crates stuffed full of Jupiter apples spilling over in the kitchen. It's been a freaky sort of summer, but the apples seemed to have liked it. They've even got a sense of humour, it seems-- the biggest, ripest, juiciest reddest ones decided to grow right at the top of the tree, so they could laugh at me as I tottered unsteadily on a stepladder only stopped from falling by a whole load of very uncomfortable branches poking into me, and my mum holding the ladder. Now we just have to work out what to do with all this fruit... It's very tasty, but I think we'll soon get sick of it. We're even considering a darned juicer to make use of the things. Anyone else going to be munching their way through millions of apple pies this autumn? |

| | | Re: It's the apple season! Put me on your mailing list! I could never get fed up with them. I get fed up with Supermarket ones, there's something they do with the storage, I think it's the chilling they do, which ruins them.
You may gather that I LOVE apples, especially English ones. There's a couple of apple days soon at some of our local Estates where I'll go and stock up with all sorts of old delicious varieties. I can't wait! |

Still think making cider with some of them is the best idea.... hic....

The ones we have managed to get my other half has made into cider which has gone down very well with friends and family who have visited!
