What's this?

Found a few of these yesterday on the edge of the quarry where I live. Suprisingly vibrant blue flowers for this time of year - can anyone ID it for me please!

Most had already flowered but found this one showing the seeds...

Thankies!

Re: What's this?

At last, some sensible answers lol!

There were quite a few of them, but right on the ridge only of the quarry edge and they'd just about all finished flowering. Not one I've seen before, but quite striking non-the-less!

Thanks for your replies Peter W and almostnormal - I shall go and see if I can look them up for a positive ID

Do you really? More to the point, am I allowed to gather some seed? Will certainly collect some if I'm allowed to!

The seed is free, just don't take the whole lot, just as much as you need Cazzie!

Re: What's this?

My first thought was a Limonium but what would a 'sea-lavender' be doing up there? I was out in the Derbyshire Dales over the weekend and was surprised by the number of plants in flower for mid-September - had a late start obviously!

No wind up! I had some in the garden last year. It was gorgeous! I had to uproot it unfortunately As i had other plants crowding it! But i have had to rethink my wildflower border again anyway. So if you really don't mind going to the trouble i'd really apprieciate it!!!

NO! Do you want some or not?!?

I'm only going once more this week (before the rain sets in for the next 6 months) and because I'm a nice person I will collect only what I think is appropriate eg. I'm not breaking my neck falling down the quarry edge to get it, ok!

Also, because I am a nice person, I will share my booty with whoever wants some

Form an orderly queue now....
