Can anyone identify this plant I found growing in a local Surrey pond please?

It is a Stonewort - a sort of complex alga - probably either of the genus Nitella or Chara

Aaaaargh - don't mention Stoneworts - I've just spent a day struggling with stonewort taxonomy!
