| | | My Apple Tree Hello,
I have a two year old Apple Tree (it is the type that gives apples during summer, the fruit is a little bit sour, but full of personality!). It gave us apples last year (6!)
After a most unusually warm winter and a drought with heat starting early some time in May, our apple tree did not give any signs it wanted to wake up: no flowers, no leaves, nothing. I cut a little twig to see if it is still alive and it is.
Why is this happening, please, and what do you advise me to do, aprt from waiting another year?
Thank you for your answers. |

| | | Re: My Apple Tree Hi,
Your tree's still bare, at this time of year?
As you mentioned the drought we had in April has probably put it into shock but its still very unusual for it not to grow foliage. Have another close look and see if the root stock and the base of the stem is ok. Even though the woods still green it doesnt mean the roots have died off.

| | | Re: My Apple Tree Hello!
Thanks I will check. There are hybiscus and raspberry bushes around it and I read the apple trees do not mind them. I also have a dog in my yard, but all of these did not matter last year, as I said. I read the apple trees and the plum trees will disappear in my area (along with the grapevine and the bees, to mention jus a few things) which will turn Mediterranean from temperate because of the global warming...
Thanks again, any new ideas are most welcome!
Best regards,
Nina. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
