| | | Re: ID required please I'm sure we used to call the 'Lords and Ladies' - 'Cuckoo Pint' , has anyone else heard this name?
I hadn't seen any for years, then last weekend at the National Birds of Prey centre there was a small wood full of it.

| | | Re: ID required please Yes, as other people have said Cuckoo-pint is another name for Lords-and-Ladies. But according to the Collins (no relation!) Gem Guide to Wildflowers, it has more folk names than any other plant. It doesn't give any other names, though.
MrsFish has given us 'Adam-and-Eve' - does anybody know any other names for it?
I've seen it quite a lot recently, near Totternhoe and near Ampthill, both in Beds. The berries (or whatever the correct technical term is!) were still green though, rather than red. |

| | | Re: ID required please It does have a lot of names - alledgedly over a hundred. They include:
Adder's Meat
Dead Man's Fingers
Flycatcher
Jack-in-the-box
Jack-in-the-green
Jack-in-the-pulpit
Kitty-come-down-the-lane-jump-up-and-kiss-me
Mandrake
Poison Fingers
Wake Robin
I'm not sure how many of these names are still in general use. Quote:
