| | | creating a living roof hello mateys
Have eventually got my partner to agree to making me a 'living roof' on top of the shed in which we keep our logs. He seems to think some plywood covered in waterproof tarpaulin as base, I then suggested a 3 inch piece of wood all around this so that I can fill with some loam-based soil/gravel and plant up with sedum/stonecrop things.
Is there a better way of making this ? Also, is stonecrop the way to go to attract wildlife and form a good matting ? Any suggestions welcome pls ?

| | | Re: creating a living roof lots of info and an advice sheet on making green roofs can be found here Sheffield City Council - Green Roofs and Green Walls
the key point is to remember to reinfoce the roof as the soil etc will become much heavier once it becomes waterlogged

| | | Re: creating a living roof Fab, thanks eeyore site very helpful. As soon as builders and rubble leave we'll start tackling it. Quite pleased that it retains the rainwater and reduces pollution Will take pics if successful.
