My 2007 list so far:
Early Purple
Monkey
Lady
Hybrid Monkey x Lady
White Helleborine
Green Winged

| | | Re: Orchids There was a mass of early purple at a nature reserve near us last week which look spectacular. BBOWT are doing a great job of protecting these to ensure they continue to thrive by fencing off the footpaths where they grow this time of year.
Also common-spotted orchid which grows in my father-in-laws garden. I'd love to see more tho, just don't know where to look

| | | Re: Orchids Have only seen Early Purple and Green-winged so far. Been keeping my eye on some Bird's-nest but they have yet to come up, Twayblades have started to put up spikes but haven't seen one fully in flower yet.
Be interested to hear how you get on, off to Suffolk the week after next and was hoping to see Pugselys, etc.
Good luck. |

| | | Re: Orchids Oh I forgot about the Twayblades. Ive already seen them in flower on a Norfolk nature reserve. Very early. I was quite amazed to see them in April! They were rather small at less than 12" but the lowest flowers were already out. I presumed that they were going to elongate up to normal size over the next few weeks. A friend of mine told me he has seen frog orchids in bud up in Derbyshire. Again that seems incredibly early to me! He also got to see the Fly orchid while he was up there too.
I'm hoping to get to see one of the military orchid populations, whether I make it though is another matter! |

| | | Re: Orchids I managed to find more green winged orchids yesterday, loads in fact. The vast majority were the normal purple type but I did eventually manage to locate the all white alba variety. Very beautiful plant. No early or pugsleys were found though... |

| | | Re: Orchids I've seen 2 very small Early Spider Orchids so far this year, but I haven't been out to many orchid sites recently. I saw loads of Early Purple leaves last month but I was too early for the flowers then.

| | | Re: Orchids Ian,
I am so dense I have only just realised that your post suggests the Monkey Orchids in Kent in flower already, is that true?? I was hoping to go down next week.
All the best
