| | | Re: Unidentified Burdock I think Greater Burdock (Arctium lappa) but they are not always easy even if you have the plant in your hand!

| | | Re: Unidentified Burdock I looked at it and thought Lesser Burdock - Arctium minus, but I don't have a book to hand to check it. I'll have a look tonight. www.brickfieldspark.org/data/burdocklesser.htm |

| | | Re: Unidentified Burdock Lesser Burdock has flowers heads in tight clusters (usually!) which made me think this single head was Greater.

| | | Re: Unidentified Burdock Both are generally very similar in appearance.
Greater Burdock grows to 1.5-3M (5-10ft) and has flowers to 40mm (1.5") in diameter and spherical.
Lesser Burdock grows to 1.5M and has flowers to 20mm (0.8") in diameter but more elongated. Quote: |

| As does Greater Burdock, and the plants growing habitat only helps to blend the differences between them.

| perhaps a photo of the whole plant as well might have helped. We might not be able to resolve this one other than to "Burdock" | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
