| | | Anyone ID this plant please Hi, took this photo in a damp meadow in Lincolnshire. There were no leaves that I could find just the single stem. there were quite a few of these. I have no idea what it is although I expect it's something quite common as my flowere ID skills are poor to say the least.
Thanks

Roger | It's the 'bud' (surely not the right term - growth tip?) of one of the Equisetales - horsetails. I was out photographing another one yesterday so I might add that in case some wizard can id them at this stage? |

| It is often referred to as a cone but has a more technical term of sporangium
I think that this is Field Horsetail Equisetum arvense

| | | Re: Anyone ID this plant please Thanks for looking Paul and Marvin. I have just looked it up in Blaney, Fitter and Fitter wild flower book and I think you are right. Thought it would be something common, our commonest Horsetail according to the book.
Thanks
