| | | neroche forest Has anyone any information regarding the "neroche project" and plans for the leisure pursuit area? Is the ecosystem being destroyed for the benifit fit of the priviledged few? |

| | | Re: neroche forest Hi,
I have just returned from walking part of Neroche Forest (The Blackdown Hills)
today, in an area I have walked many, many times during the past 30+ years & I must say I was not pleased with what I came across.....new barbed-wire fencing everywhere, gravel path across half of Britty Common (no doubt to be completed at some stage!) & plenty of new ditches to allow water to drain away......this whole area is supposed to be marshy.....please don't try to make it pavement! Any keen walker can expect mud, anywhere on The Blackdowns....that's the type of habitat it is......wear boots!
On the plus side, the conifer cleared areas are looking good....infact one clearing held singing Tree Pipit....a rarity on The Blackdowns these days. |

| | Re: neroche forest Thank you for your post Piedfly, we are in agreement with your comments on the changes taking place in the Neroche area.
According to the Devon Wildlife Trust, “Springline Mires are the most important habitats in the AONB”. (Report, Oct 1993, The Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, p.32) “It’s a living landscape not a picture”.
Please visit our website www.geocities.com/joandelahaye/localhistory
Can we add your post to this web page? We are hoping that it might be possible to prevent any further insensitive development in the area.
Regards, Blackdown

You may certainly add my post to your web page.
Good luck with the site.
I will post any further changes that I see during my walks on The Blackdowns, on this thread.
