| | | Pembrokeshire National Park Me, my hubby and the dogs are off to the Pembrokeshire National Park for a week next month and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places to visit, preferable with good photo opportunities and dog friendly! We're staying near Strumble Head so I'm hoping they'll be some good photo opportunties there but is there anywhere else I should head? Ta!

Most places are "dog friendly" with the exception of a few of the more outstanding beaches. If you walk on the coastal path with them, just make sure they can't slip their collars/leads as there's not much cliff between the path and a drop into the sea.
Strumble Head itself is supposed to be good for sighting dolphins, although I personally haven't seen any from there. I usually stay a bit further north at Newport and have seen dolphins in the bay below the campsite there. Mwnt and New Quay in Ceredigion also offer good dolphin sightings from the land.
Grey seals pop up just about anywhere in the water by the coastal path. I've seen porpoises between St Davids Head and Ramsey Island, choughs at Abereiddy and Mwnt and the odd red kite at Newport.
Hopefully you'll get some sunny days as the sunsets are amazing!
Can't wait to see your photos when you return.

we got back a couple of weeks ago from Pembrokeshire and it's a beautiful area, wildflowers, birds and views. Abercastle and Porthgain are great as is Carn Ingli. Thanks again.

Ann | Oops, sorry Ann. Forgot to pop some pics on this thread. There are some pics on various places: wildflowers, unidentified, etc!
Had a fantastic time, weather great 80% of the time, typically Welsh the other 20%! Didn't stop us getting about tho.
Fantastic part of the country for views, sunsets, walks and wildflowers. Saw quite a few birds we don't get here in Berkshire, mainly seabirds, (no photos, though, I was too busy watching them!) We walked quite a bit of the coastal path most days. Spent one day 'inland' walking along Cwm Gwaun and spent ages watching buzzards soaring around us. One even landed just feet away and was a fantastic sight.
I could go on and on about where we went, what we saw, etc. but I'll just show 6 of my favourite shots, all taken at Strumble Head.
I'd definately recommend anyone visiting there and we shall certainly be going back!

| | | Re: Pembrokeshire National Park I love that first sunset pic Claire. I'm hoping to go back to North Pembrokeshire myself later in the year but as I've only just got back from a two week trip in Scotland, I've got a bit of saving to do first.
