| | | Where are you going? This is the first thread in a new Wild Places category of the forum (although we'll probably fill it up with some posts that previously went in other categories) and to get the ball rolling, I was wondering - which wild places are you planning to visit this year in the UK?
I've never been to Kielder, so that's high on my list. The Lakes are a definite, as is Snowdon - both are only a couple of hours away.
I'd love to get right up into Scotland, but I've been promising myself that one for years.
I'll be gutted if I don't get down to Cornwall at some point and the New Forest would be a great stop off along the way.
So, where are you going?

Plus plenty of visits to the Peak District which is local to me.

| | | Re: Where are you going? With my new found interest in birding i am hoping to have 3 or 4 days around Norfolk this year visiting all the RSPB reserves.
Also hoping for a couple of days in Somerset/Exmoor on a bird of prey handling and flying course...something i have always wanted to do.
Would also love to go to this Gigrin farm thats been mentioned.
Just get out more and see and do new wildlife related things i think. |

We are going to visit Jersey (yes, I know it's not strictly speaking part of the British Isles, but it is apparently owned by the UK Head of State - the Queen) and it will be interesting to see what grows and lives there by comparison to the mainland. If you know of anything exceptional to look out for, please let me know. |

| | | Re: Where are you going? I have a week booked in Eccles in Norfolk (about 15+ miles north of Great Yarmouth) from 22nd April followed by another week from the 29th at Narborough (near Swaffham).
I am probably looking to go around Nethybridge (near Aviemore) this year, possibly for at least a 4 day break.
Cornwall in the Autumn looks a certainty as well. |

Do you live in the Ratley that is just north of Banbury? If so you could join me the next time I go to Gigrin Farm. I am certain to go there in the not too distant future, either on my own or with the Mrs and our two dogs.
Gigrin certainly is an experience that you have to have at lease once in your life (I visit at least twice a year). It can be spectacular at times.
