There is someone on here who's in Felixstowe, can't remember their username though!
But down that way i can definitely recommend Landguard Point just below Felixstowe, I think it's an LNR and they have a Bird Observatory there.

| That'll be me
At this time of year the Orwell is excellent for birds, but access can be a bit tricky.
scubaninja, if you drop me a PM letting me know where you're based, whether you have transport, how much time you'll have for birding, and how far you're prepared to travel, I'll point you at some good spots.
Landguard is very quiet in winter, best visited in spring and autumn.

Some would argue that it is better birding then even Northern Norfolk. Quote:

| | | Re: good spots for wildlife in Ipswich Possibly the best for birding in Ipswich is underneath the Orwell Bridge - on the Bridge Wood side you have the woodland birds then as you near the shore you can see the waders and also the Peregrine's at the nest box, placed under the bridge - not sure if they would be there now though.
On the opposite bank is the Strand - good for geese and waders and duck.
And don't forget Alton Water (formerly Tattingstone Lake) - now a large reservoir.
