| | | My first trip to Norfolk... My first trip to Norfolk was brilliant! Such an awesome place even at probably the quietest time of the year for wildlife
Although this was a family holiday and not a wildlife trip as such, I managed to see:
81 birds (4 new for me)
50+ insects/invertebrates (15 new for me)
5 mammals (2 new, plus an unknown mouse species)
4 fish (3 new)
60 wildflowers/bushes etc (28 new for me!)
I'm sure I missed some wildflowers off my list that I overlooked
Definately going back!

My 4 new ones were Green Sandpiper, Curlew Sandpiper, Little Stint and Common Eider.
There were 6 or 7 Eider sitting out at sea. Had good but distant views of Gannets fishing, decent numbers of Curlew Sandpiper (there were over 40 there on some days). Watching Marsh Harriers, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk hunting over the marshes was good too.
As I mentioned it was really a family holiday so didn't have much time at the reserves (1hr30mins at Cley and 1hr at Titchwell) But it's given me a taste and I got some new birds that I know aren't particularly rare, but I was happy to see
We'll see what the weather brings in here this week!

When were they there!?! I only went for an hour on Wednesday morning and there was no mention then. They were very busy breaching so lots of disturbance.
