| | | Re: Grasspoint, Mull Grasspoint is just one of several places where you stand a good chance of seeing WTE's from a public road. The road runs right to the (disused) jetty, so there are no questions regarding access rights. When the tides are right the eagles will often use the large boulders in the estuary, or the nearby small rocky islands as perches, where they often rest for long periods. You can if you wish rent the two properties that sit at the point, but they are VERY expensive.
The access road does run quite close to the nest site, but providing you don't linger there is no risk of disturbance. Most of the wildlife tour operators take their clients to Grasspoint, and there are places near the point where you can 'scope the nest in safety.
Mull is a wonderful place for eagles - their economy is largely dependant on visitors. You will, without too much difficulty, find other nest sites that are viewable from public roads. (Ironically, the police guide you to where they are by laying out a line of no-waiting cones in the middle of nowhere.) You will come across them. Again, don't linger, but a bit of common sense and a map will guide you to where you can watch them from a safe location - and probably join other watchers from well-established viewing points.
