| | | Our Lost Seaside Piers I lived in Brighton for over 10 years, but was unaware of a 3rd Pier which was called, The Brighton Chain Pier.
Here's a link to all our Past and Present Piers, unfortunatly there's not many left. Pleasure Piers :: Geograph Britain and Ireland - photograph every grid square! |

| | | Re: Our Lost Seaside Piers And now we've lost the West Pier and the old 'Palace Pier' has had it's name changed to the Brighton Pier. Very sad the whole West Pier debacle - it really could have been saved. Now an interesting iron sculpture stuck off the shore though and a great roost for our winter Starlings. |

| | | Re: Our Lost Seaside Piers I get sad every time I walk or drive past Hastings pier, it will probably end up just like The West pier in Brighton, by the time someone makes up their mind. Hastings Pier & White Rock Trust ? HPWRT |

| | | Re: Our Lost Seaside Piers Happily we still have two popular and well used piers at Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton. Great for fishing! There is evidence of an old pier at Walton and a road called Old Pier Street.

| | | Re: Our Lost Seaside Piers I remember Hastings pier too from the 60s. My aunt and uncle lived in Bexhill and we often went to stay with them and I went on the train to Hastings all by myself (I was all of 14 at the time) and spent some of my hard earned pocket money on the slot machines there!
Very sad to see another one go in that way. |

| | | Re: Our Lost Seaside Piers There's been a few piers going up in smoke in recent times, perhaps maintenance cost are getting too high. |

| | | Re: Our Lost Seaside Piers Well before they all go, get yourself off to Southwold in Suffolk and visit their little pier. Have an Adnams beer or cream tea, visit the arcade of fun but clever machines made from recycled furniture and scrap metal. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
