| | | Wicken Fen Me and Mrs Goat visited Wicken Fen for the first time last weekend.
Even though it was a blowing a gale it was a great day; it is a great place.
Here a few photos.

| | | Re: Wicken Fen Nice photos Dave and glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to the Fen
I've been a regular visitor for some 33 years and now spend a lot of time there - it's worth a visit at any time of year.
Perhaps you saw the very large (about 4 metres wide) canvas print on the wall behind the reception desk in the visitor centre and showing a misty winter's dawn over the Fen - I'm pleased to say that's one of my images

| | | Re: Wicken Fen Have to say I did not see your image, sorry.
Next time I will look for it.
I have read quite a bit about Wicken Fen over a number of years.
But visiting it is just excellent. Not in the way that somewhere like Cley is so full on(don't get me wrong, Cley is, in my opinion, a wildlife heaven), but because around every corner there is something to see: it is a stunningly good place.

| | | Re: Wicken Fen Glad you enjoyed Wicken, Dave.
I think it's my favourite reserve. It's a very different place in the winter, but has a beautiful bleakness, if you know what I mean
Did you drop in to the Dragonfly Centre or the Dragonfly Project in the Wren Building? I was helping out with the "Dragonfly Safaris" on Monday.
Oh, and Jeff - I noticed your image and was very impressed!

Jerry | Cheers Jerry I was there on the Friday giving a patient from a local brain injury rehab unit (and his Occupational Therapist) a mini-guided tour of the boardwalk area. I'm guessing it was much busier on the Monday
By the way, although one can easily spend a whole day (from dawn until dusk) at Wicken there's another reserve just down the road which is also well worth a visit for anyone in the area. It's called 'Kingfishers Bridge' - see link here Home - and although it's a private reserve created by a local farmer, there is public access. It's very good for Marsh Harrier, Bittern and for waders/wildfowl
