| | | Walton-on-the-Naze beach This is one of my favourite local areas to visit as there is such a diverse range of habitats and things of interest. The cliiff is well known for producing sharks teeth and other interesting ffossils. I love the effect of light on the beach.
Oh yes, the Fisher Esturine moth lives here, named after a local inhabitant!!
Here is a taster to show you what is available.
More pics to follow as I am still learning how to reduce the size!!.
Hope my picture turns up!

| | | Re: Walton-on-the-Naze beach Wicked fossil hunting spot, old Walton-on-the-Naze. The shark's teeth from the Eocene London clay can be found strewn over the beach after a storm if i remember rightly! |

The cliff is made mostly from red crag and is always crumbling. The fish is one of my daughter's favourite fossils.

| | | Re: Walton-on-the-Naze beach Ah yes Walton Naze. I spent 3 weeks in the town and on the beach looking at the London Clay for my undergraduate dissertation. So excellent fossils to be found there.
Its actually the top Eocene bird fossil site outside Messel in Germany, though sadly a private collector has collected most the specimens and has horded them as he had an arguement with a scientist once so won't let any scientists see them, so Im told.
Nice photo btw | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
