Richard | I imagine you know Richard but theres been some impressive sights recently with spoonbills, slavonian grebes and bitterns about. I got some ok fieldfare photos in one of the 'dog free' meadows and its one of the best sites for Cuckoos + turtle doves in Essex.

Neil .... I am sure you will enjoy your time at Wat Tyler CP .... it is still one of the "wild places of Essex" and I normally manage to see around 100 species of birds a year plus numerous species of butterfly and dragonfly/damselfly.
It is indeed excellent for both Cuckoo and Turtle Dove with late April and May also guaranteeing sightings of both these seriously declining birds.
My only complaint about Wat Tyler CP is its opening and closing hours. Unfortunately I can not get in early or stay late due to the gated access, exactly the time when wildlife may be easier to see since all the screaming kids and barking dogs are still asleep or have gone home.
Perhaps the dodgy Romford boy could arrange special access for wildlife watchers?

Richard | When I was working there last year I was getting there at about 6.30am Somedays as the sun came up with geese flying over my head and the park to myself | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
