I visited Mull for 3 days at the end of December and in to January.
I saw a family group of 3 Otters on each of the 3 days from the road along Loch Scridain. On one day I saw 8 Otters including this group of 3.
On previous visits to Mull, Loch Scridain has always been the most reliable site in my experience. Early morning or late evenings tend to be more productive but I have seen Otters at many different times of day.
As with most wildlife, some patience and luck is often required but the rewards are excellent.
I hope you have a great trip in May and that your luck is as good as mine was earlier in the year.

For a nice spot, visit Ardalanish Bay near Bunessan, much nicer than the touristy Calgary Bay. At Ardalanish you can find big 'dobber' garnets in some of the rocks also. The Bunessan area I found pretty decent for hen harriers too and oddles of cuckoos.
Regards, Chris | thanks for that Chris. I payed a visit to Iona last year, I also heard the Corncrakes but didn't see them. Bunnessan sounds like a plan especially for oddles of cuckoos ( didn't know that was the collective name )

Richard | very grateful for that Richard, thankyou. If my luck is 1/8th as good as yours I'd be happy
