| | | The history of the countryside - a collection of recollections "The day-to-day recollections and trivia are what today's historians cherish".
Dr Richard Muir, landscape historian, 2007.
I'm not sure if anyone has started a similar thread, but I thought it would be nice if there was a place where people could record people's recollections of how rural life and their local wild places used to be.
So if you remember a certain rural location before a change took place, or you wish to record the reminiscences of elderly people from your village, or you have a story that has been passed down through the generations, please write it here. Anything relevant to the landscape, bygone rural practices or rural ways of life. A history by word of mouth and preserved for future generations to enjoy. No matter how trivial the information, I'm fairly sure someone somewhere will find it of interest, if Mr Google should happen to direct them this way
