You must go to Barnes, also Regents Park and Richmond Park. If you only have a weekend not sure how many places you can fit in and still be sociable

| | | Re: London parks and wild places Some good sites
1 WWT Barnes as you mention - good for wildfowl (collection and wild) and other birds associated with water, and depending on the time of year dragonflies, marsh frogs and common lizards
2 Regents Park - good wildfowl collection, a heronry, water rail platform, tame grey squirrels
3 Richmond Park (30min walk from station) - deer (fallow and red), parakeets, mandarin ducks and small but good wildfowl collection
4 St. James Park - pelicans + wildfowl
5 Hyde + kensington gardens - wildfowl + tawny owls at right time of year (and Im told hand tame great tits and starlings)
Should get you started. Im sure aeshna5 (who knows London better than me) will be along to add/correct to this |

| | | Re: London parks and wild places Oh yes - the pelicans...
great fun to see and you get a view of Buck House, the horseguards parade, the London eye etc all thrown in!
You'll need more than a weekend I think.

| | | Re: London parks and wild places Depends where you are going to be in London, but Rainham Marshes in Eseex are excellent. The nearest station is Purfleet which is about 30 mins journey from Fenchurch Street station, which is about the same amount of time as it would take you to get to Barnes.
