| | | Minismere in November Ive been contemplating a visit to minsmere but its a bit of a drive, so before I make all that effort can someone tell me:
1. if the scrape has been reflooded after drying up
2. If there is much to see/photograph at this time of year
3. If so what

| | | Re: Minismere in November Hi
Was there at weekend so in answer to your questions
Scrape is now full (in fact after rain on Saturday some of the islands and now smaller so perhaps a little more water than normal.)
A lot of the winterbirds/migrants from Siberia/arctic have not yet arrived so some areas lacking but other areas a lot more. Plenty of bearded tits although very difficult to photograph in the reeds, several new tracks opened to see them
Quite a few marsh harriers again no photos. I think a lot of the birds were sort of shell shocked from the gales on Saturday
2 avocets still there
1 great White Egret although playing hard to get and was as far away on Island mere as it Could be but was in full view.
All the usual stuff though around
I intend to go back up several times but will leave it a week or two
You are not far from me as I am Leytonstone now
Mike

| | | Re: Minismere in November i went there a few weeks ago to see the great white egret and there wasn't much out of the ordinary there although I did watch a red deer feeding at 20 feet. (and forgot to take the camera!!!) will be returning probably in early december when more of the winter visiters are there.
But i'm only about an hour and a bit away so its not to far for me going there frequently! |
