| | | Islay Although Islay had been somewhere we had wanted to visit for many years, we only managed it a few weeks ago.
It is a wonderful place. We were there for only one very windy and fairly rainy week but saw, without really looking very hard -
grey seal,
roe deer,
gannet,
great black backed gull,
lesser black backed gull,
wren,
goldfinch,
twite,
jackdaw,
raven,
chough,
greylag geese,
barnacle geese,
kestrel,
sparrowhawk,
hen harrier,
golden eagle,
some stunning landscapes, and if all that was not enough, Islay is home to three of the best words in the English language -
Laphhroaig, Bowmore and Ardbeg. |

| | | Re: Islay The last time I was on Islay I took the ferry over to Jura and went for a solitary walk along the shore and within ten minutes of leaving the ferry I was watching a Otter fishing for his breakfast, magic.
