| | | Lincolnshire Apologies if this is the wrong place but I couldn't think where else to post this. I am off to Lincolnshire at the end of the month (near Market Rasen) and wondered if there were any particular areas of wildlife interest there which you could recommend?
Thanks |

| | | Re: Lincolnshire You're only an hour or so away from Gibraltar Point, near Skegness. Great site for a day out and possibility of some good birds at this time of year.
Check out Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust's website, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust for some of their other sites in the area.
Have a good time |

You might like to check out Chambers Farm Wood Chambers Farm Wood Nature Reserve.
It's only about half an hour from Market Rasen. Good range of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, adders are possible also. Although it's too late for the dragons and butterflies. It's also free. |

| | | Re: Lincolnshire In Market Rasen itself (by the golf course) is Linwood Warren. It's a pretty good site for snakes. I don't know it very well, though.
Roger's suggestion of Chambers Farm Wood is a good one. I've spent a lot of time there at all times of the year. Whisby Nature Park, Kirkby Moor and Gibraltar Point are other places I visit often. There are many good sites here |

Southrey Wood for brwon hairstreaks isn't far either.
However, at this time of the year, try Far Ings in the far north of the county. They have bitterns, cetti's warblers and bearded tits as I recall. It's a nice reserve.
Regards, Chris |

| | | Re: Lincolnshire Depending how far you want to go there is always Freiston Shore on the Wash which is an RSPB site. (signposted off the A52) I went once, very steep slope to get into car park. |

| | | Re: Lincolnshire Give the River Humber a try. Waters' Edge Country Park (ignore the useless website)and Far Ings Nature Reserve are good ones. Also Alkborough Flats. Blacktoft Sands and Messingham Sands. Crowle Moors |

Have a good time | In think there are seal colonies there too but just remember there are hazardous quick sands and you can easily get cut off by the tides, so check out the tide times and be vigilant and stay safe..

Best time to see the young pups however is mid November to mid December as this is when the cows haul out onto the beach to give birth and you can get really close views then. |
