| | | Hickling Broad. Am heading to Hickling Broad tomorrow, anyone been before? Wondered what I might see there (birds in particular).
Mark.

| | | Re: Hickling Broad. I was there 3 weeks ago- sadly a cool overcast day with brief showers, so I didn't see Swallowtails + Norfolk Hawkers. The former are probably just about gone over now. Did see Hairy Dragonfly.
Birds- apair of Cranes have recently fledged 2 young + I did have 2 flight views of a Crane; also Bittern, Little, Egret, Marsh Harriers, Hobbies, Bearded Tit (excellent views), Cetti's Warblers, Yellowhammer amongst others.
Some nice fenland plants too. |

| | | Re: Hickling Broad. I went the Hickling last year. I can recommend a boat ride from Horsey Mere, which is very close to Hickling. In fact the ride goes right into the centre of Hickling Broads. Whilst on that I saw and got shots of a flying Bittern, and saw three Marsh Harriers. Bearded Reedlings are a definite possibility.
It's a great area I'm sure you'll love it. You could still see Swallowtails. We saw a second brood one in pristine condition and that was around 27th July. |

| | | Re: Hickling Broad. Thanks for the info glsammy & aeshna5 . Had a great time highlight was seeing my first wild Barn Owl and photographing it, will post it on here in a while (if I can remember how to) I have already put the best ones on my flickr page, they won't win any awards but am still buzzing about seeing it.
I am already planning my next trip!!
Cheers
Mark.
