| | | Yorkshire bird sites (esp Peregrines) Hello all. Southerner coming in peace We're thinking about visiting Yorkshire for a week, from the 8th of August. I was just wondering whether any of you know of any particularly good birding spots, especially as my 12 year old would love to see a peregrine in the wild. As yet we have no plans as to whereabouts in Yorkshire we'll be going, but I guess it'll be on the eastern side, not too far from the coast (3 boys 7,10,12 + summer holiday).
Thanks |

| | | Re: Yorkshire bird sites (esp Peregrines) Can't really help on Yorkshire Peregrines (except to hazard that the Flamborough Head/Bempton Cliffs stretch of the coast might be productive), but just to say, if you want to see Peregrines in Suffolk, head down to the Orwell Bridge - they bred there for the second time this year, good views from the Wherstead Road side, and there's usually one or two around in the winter.

| | | Re: Yorkshire bird sites (esp Peregrines) Two nesting around bempton/flamborough regular sightings between these two sites. A nest at Scarborough around the marine drive guaranteed sightings there. They are a regular sight around here, I even spotted one whilst having a pint at the local on sunday evening . |

| | | Re: Yorkshire bird sites (esp Peregrines) There will still be auks around just possibly in smaller number sometimes they can hang on quite late. Gannets will still be around as well as gulls, shags etc. The farmland will offer all the usual farmland bird species. The stretch of coastline is very good for rare species showing up so there is always great potential for this. |

| | | Re: Yorkshire bird sites (esp Peregrines) We've now booked ourselves into a cottage near Stokesley and Carlton-in-Cleveland, so we'll be right on the northern edge of the North York Moors. If anyone knows of any good spots in that neck-o-the-woods for any local specialities (wildlife that is ), I'd be very grateful. Thanks a lot (can't wait, but will have to) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Hybrid Mode |
