| | | Re: Exploring Scotland help please I'd recommend 'Ron Hill Tracksters' for trousers. They're light and windproof and slide over your knees easily when climbing. They don't hold much water when they're wet and remain warm(ish!). They also walk dry quickly.

If it's the sort of tent I'm thinking of it it may not be very suitable. IIRC they're quite heavy. Also, there's usually no 'porch' area where you can leave your boots and wet kit, and cook in if the weather turns nasty. If you go the the Cairngorms you won't need to carry any drink except for your immediate needs. There's plenty of good water in the burns. I never treat or boil it - just careful to get it from small burns running down from high hills.

| | | Re: Exploring Scotland help please One thing that's essential is sunblock of some type. The official temperature today is 25C with bright sunshine, and we're forecast this for at least the next week. You can get quite severe sunburn surprisingly quickly in the unpolluted mountain air, even when the temperature feels quite cool. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
