| | | Re: Tatra Mountains in Poland Hi Picidae,
thanks for the advice.
I'd love to go back there outside of holiday season - when we do I'll check out Stara Polana.
Spring or Autumn would be a great time to be there, however after an organised trek up into the Slovak side of the Tatra's there were so many places to stay up there that I think I could probably find a quiet spot. A camper van would be a good option with B&B's when the rain comes in heavy.
Unbelievably I didnt take my walking boots, I wanted something much lighter and couldn't find the right thing so I took a chance and bought there.
(for anyone heading that way there are perhaps 20 outdoorsy shops on the main drag)
I was lucky and grabbed a great pair of trail type trainers on sale. They were a god send while skimming around a cliff face on some slippery metal rungs 30mtrs above a choppy river in the rain!..if only I'd known to take a decent coat instead of a very lightweight thing... when it rains there, its REALLY rains!

| | | Re: Tatra Mountains in Poland Glad you had a good time HM. I'm surprised to hear about the queues for the cable car. I don't rememeber such a palaver when I went on it. Saying that, it was nine years ago and was about early May I think. Perhaps my glee in seeing the bear has wiped that painful fact from my memory?

| | Re: Tatra Mountains in Poland The Tatras Mountains are absolutely stunning.
The wildlife is amazing...I was there 6 years ago and I would jump at the chance to return...Poland itself is filled with some great wildlife places.
Have a great experience.
Regards
